A few things worth knowing before you start
Most people write preview text that repeats the subject line. Subject says "3 ways to grow your list," preview says "3 ways to grow your list." That wastes your second chance to earn the open.
Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail fill it in for you. Usually with "View this email in your browser" or the first line of your email. That is wasted real estate on every send.
Extend the subject line. Add a benefit, a specific detail, or context the subject line did not have room for. They work as a pair, not two separate lines.
Subject lines under 45 characters and preview text under 90 characters display reliably across most email clients and devices.
